Given that most quadcopters are built with video in mind, it can be something of a pain to lose resolution by cropping off both sides when desiring a portrait as opposed to landscape image.
However, while not the easiest option to locate 'on the fly' (see what I did there?!) the Mavic introduces a nifty feature I've never seen on any other (even much more expensive) aerial photography platform...namely it's very own 'Portrait Capture' mode.
While in flight, ensure you're in Photography mode, and hit the Settings icon. Then, scroll down to toggle Portrait Capture to 'On':
