Don't go chasing waterfalls...

So the recent deluges that California has been so desperately needing for years have of course led to local waterfalls running once again. These can be great locations for flying quadcopters and drones, especially if you have something as small as a Mavic, since they usually involve a hike.

Obviously being able to fly provides some spectacular views and some unique photos or video. With spring officially coming up, these waterfalls will dry up soon...so get them while they're still wet!

Three Sisters Falls	Down in Pine Valley in Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, so a bit of a trek. Not the easiest of hikes either!
Tenaja Falls	Awesome triple waterfall in the San Mateo Canyon Wilderness near Lake Elsinore.
Ortega Falls	Super easy to get to so long as you're not afraid of the Ortega Highway.

We were up there a few weeks ago ourselves our x star premium quadcopter from the park to the Falls and back. I will share some information I found out. Tenaja Falls Is technically in the San Mateo Wilderness and such it is illegal to fly drones there. Sigh...

Thanks for the info and link poppajames...good to know. I was pleased to learn that California State Parks and Beaches allow UAV use (with certain restrictions) where National Parks famously don't. I actually only learned of the designation after getting back.

While there, I was a little concerned at how close we were to Camp Pendleton, but the FAA's B4UFLY app showed that I was clear of the boundary.

I'll make sure I reference your link when I get to fleshing out the Keep it Legal thread on this site.

It was good to meet you the other day, and thanks for signing up. As you see this site is just getting going, but once I get some more content on here, I know of many others who will be going too, so with luck it'll become a good resource for ideas, networking and collaboration.
